Skin filler treatments require the introduction of the most appropriate filler for
your requirements within a narrow layer of the skin. We are all very aware that
some areas of facial skin are far more tender than others, with the skin on the
upper lip being especially sensitive and so local anaesthetics in either cream
form, or using facial anaesthetic blocks ease the possible discomfort. Local
anaesthetics solutions should be administered exclusively by a doctor or dentist
experienced in their use.
The small risk of complications due to sensitivity (approximately 1:2000) will be
considered and a skin test advised in certain circumstances.
Conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, major skin abnormalities
such as scleroderma, or a history of allergic problems would
preclude fillers being recommended.
The occasional small, transient and easily covered skin blemish
quickly disappears with a few days of treatment.
